What is lymph therapy? The lymphatic system is a "safety valve" for the body. Liquids that cannot be removed via the venous blood system become lymphatic (lymphatic loads). If the lymphatic system is disrupted and the resulting lymphatic load is not removed, edema occurs (water accumulation in the tissue). This can occur in different degrees of severity. Lymphatic drainage is to be improved or restored through lymphatic therapy. How does lymph therapy work? The first step in lymphatic drainage is to activate the lymph nodes. These work like a pump for the lymphatic system and form a suction. Through our lymphatic drainage, the fluid that has not been removed and has collected in the intestine (space between cells, tissues, organs) is massaged back into the lymphatic system and transported back into the bloodstream through the lymph nodes. The lymphatic drainage thus stimulates the congested lymph flow and the congested fluid accumulation is reduced. How is lymph therapy used? Lymph therapy is a very gentle and rhythmic type of massage that has a very beneficial and sometimes relaxing effect on the organism of our animals. It is analgesic, anti-inflammatory and accelerates the healing process. This treatment technique also supports the immune system, promotes digestion, lactic acid breakdown and has a detoxifying effect. Depending on the severity of the swelling, a compression bandage is then put on to act even more intensively against the swelling. A lymphatic tape is also possible for lighter swellings to increase the after-effects of the lymph therapy and to maintain its positive effect in the long term.
